A service will begin at 7 o’clock that evening. Donations in Colin’s memory may be made to the good work of St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Born in Leicester, England to the late Harold and Joan (nee Bosworth) Smith,he was one of four children who blessed the Smith family. Colin grew up in Grimsby where he played goalie on his “football” team. He excelled at school, with a strength in mathematics and was a member of the chess club.

Colin met the love of his life, Deborah, and they married on July 29, 1978. Together, they embarked on a new journey, moving to the United States, where they built a beautiful life and family. Colin worked diligently in the IT industry, providing a good life for his family and creating a warm and loving home alongside Deborah. He had a great career in technology working for over 45 years as a Systems Programmer. During this time he worked for many companies, through buyouts, and as an independent consultant. He made many lifelong friends through his career. He retired in December of 2024.

In his spare time, Colin found joy in cheering on Leicester City Football Club – “The Foxes” and the New York Yankees. He had a deep passion for soccer and was an avid lawn bowler, earning numerous awards. He was essential in rebuilding the Essex County Lawn Bowling Club and bringing the sport locally back to life. Colin served as President of the club starting in 1995 and contributed significantly at both the Divisional and National Level. In 2017, Colin was inducted into the Bowls USA Hall of Fame.

Above all, Colin was the proudest “Papa” to his beloved granddaughters, Olivia and Violet. He never missed an opportunity to boast about them and cherished every moment spent in their company. They were the light of his life, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them.

Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we remain forever grateful for the love he shared and
the lessons he gave.

Colin leaves his devoted wife Deborah; his daughter and son in law , Jacqueline and Frank Dilkes; his adored granddaughters, Olivia and Violet; his siblings, Ian Smith, Cynthia Rowson and Elaine Asquith; as well as many dear relatives and friends.
