Obituary of Elizabeth Davis
Elizabeth Ann Davis, lovingly known as Beth, passed away suddenly, Sunday morning February 2, 2025, in her Parsippany, NJ home. She was 58 years young.
Born in Jamaica Plains, MA, Beth was raised in New York State, having lived in Peekskill, NY, Mohegan Lake, NY, and Yorktown Heights, NY before coming to Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ with her family in 1985.
She was a 1984 graduate of Yorktown High School and was honored to be the Class Valedictorian. She subsequently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Duke University in 1989 with BA Degrees in both Philosophy and Women's Studies. During her tenure there, she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a dedicated Sister of the Delta Gamma Sorority.
Following her graduation, Ms. Davis worked in Trading support with Morgan Stanley in Manhattan, NY; and also worked in project management with several banking and pharmaceutical firms. Most recently, she was a freelance journalist.
Beth loved her alma mater, Duke University, having volunteered as a teacher's assistant with the university's writing program and as an alumni interviewer. She was also an enthusiastic fan and follower of the Blue Devils men’s basketball team.
She was a longtime member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Parsippany, NJ where she volunteered as a lector at Sunday masses, and as a teacher for younger students in the parish's CCD program.
Beth was a sweet and loving person; she always had a kind word or deed for everyone. She was also a voracious reader and brilliant writer. Beth was a talented artist, designing personal cards, prints and other works of art to share with many people. Her art and writings were both touching and beautiful. She made the world a brighter, gentler place with her undaunted positive spirit and presence.
Ms. Davis will be sorely missed by her mother, Kathryn A. Davis (nee Bradstreet) of Parsippany, NJ; a son, Matthew Haumann of Durham, NC; a sister, Pamela Halligan, her husband, Thomas Halligan III, and a niece, Katie Halligan - all of Mason, OH. She is also survived by multiple loving aunts and uncles as well as many beloved cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, James R. Davis.
At the family's request, the funeral service will be held privately under the direction of S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, Lake Hiawatha.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a memorial gift to the Duke University Libraries Annual Fund via https://giving.duke.edu in Beth's memory.
