Obituary of Angelo Izzo

Angelo Izzo passed away peacefully Thursday morning, February 13, 2025 at The Valley Hospital in Paramus surrounded by his family. He was 83.  

Born in Cautano, Italy, Angelo immigrated to the United States in 1955, settling in Paterson. He had been a resident of the Towaco section of Montville Township since 1998.

He had served in the United States Navy from 1966-1968  before his honorable discharge. He served aboard the USS Essex Aircraft Carrier and in Iceland. . 

Angelo earned his Bachelors Degree from William Patterson College in 1964 and his Masters Degree from Seton Hall University in 1973, both in administration and supervision. He was a Doctorate student at Seton Hall University.
 
He began his career in education as a teacher in the Clifton Public Schools and subsequently served as a vice principal and principal. He served as County Supervisor of Child Study with the New Jersey Department of Education, Bergen County Office.  Most recently, he was County School Business Aministrator, New Jersey Department of Education, Passaic County Office, retiring in 1996. 

An avid soccer player and enthusiast, he was a longtime soccer coach and served as head coach with the Clifton Public Schools. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara; a beloved son, Joseph; and two sisters, Maria and Norma (Karol). Angelo was preceded in death by his parents Nancy and Alfonso; and a brother, Donato.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, February 16, 2024, 2:00pm to 6:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday morning, February 17, 2024, 10:00am at St. Pius X R.C. Church, Montville, NJ. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre, Totowa, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for memorial gifts to Priests of the Sacred Heart (Hales Corners), P.O. Box 900, Chamberlain, SD 57325-0900.
