Obituary of Nancy Stuono
Nancy Coco Stuono was born December 5 1933, and passed away February 14 2025 in Pompton Plains NJ, after living a dynamic life full of love and caring. She was 91.
Born in Elizabeth NJ and raised by Italian immigrant parents, Vetiny and Guiseppe Coco, Nancy was the youngest of 5 birth siblings: Frank, Orlando, Katherine, Anthony and was an older sister to adopted brother Raymond Coco.
She married Robert L Stuono on September 15 1956. Over the next nine years she gave birth to 4 sons, Robby, Michael, John Arthur, and Carl, before moving to Towaco NJ in 1967. Bob and Nancy were happily married for 56 years until his death in 2012.
An exceptionally devoted, loving and supportive mother to her boys, Nancy was extremely active in their lives and also in her community. She was a Cub Scout den mother, President of the Montville Women’s Club, founded a teen youth group that sponsored events in town (Meatballs Inc), drove a school bus, and for several years served as an EMT with the Montville Volunteer Ambulance Squad. Other activities are too numerous to list.
Nancy cooked like an Italian Mama and lived like a modern woman. She had strong opinions and was not shy about expressing her advocacy for the rights of all people.
She went back to college in her 40’s and earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She proudly worked as an RN for many years at Morristown Memorial Hospital, and also as a private nurse.
Nancy adored her grandchildren Michael, Mark, Melissa, Megan, Jamie, Taylor, Nicholas, and Imonie. With her grandkids she delighted in sleepovers, family dinners, holiday celebrations, trips to Broadway, and every milestone in their lives.
She warmly embraced the spouses of her children and grandchildren, as family was her priority. Her nieces and nephews were always included in the circle of her boundless, warm embrace. And she was tickled to be a great grandmother/aunt.
Nancy connected with people everywhere she went. She created long lasting, deep friendships and was a “second mother” to the many people who sought her loving, excellent advice and mentorship.
Nancy Stuono will be remembered for her generous giving nature, her ability to empathize and be there for others, her fierce wit and curiosity in the world, and for her deep love of laughter.
Nancy was loved by her children: Rob Stuono and his late wife Sue Stuono, Michael Angelo Stuno and his husband Jeff Pervorse, John Stuono, Carl Stuono and his partner Cheryl Stuono.
And loved by her grandchildren: Melissa Krecicki and husband Kevin Krecicki, Megan Kelly and husband Peter Kelly, Michael Camisi and wife Rebecca Camisi, Mark Camisi and wife Sarah Pohlman, Jamie Stuono and husband Marc Gnesin, Taylor Clark and husband Ryan Clark, Nicholas Stuono, and Imonie Stuno-Pervorse.
