Obituary of Peter J. Marshall Sr.
Peter J. Marshall Sr., 90, of Montville, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 18th following a brief illness.
Born and raised in Newark and Belleville, Peter met the love of his life, Grace Nicholson, at a polka dance. They married in 1957 and built a beautiful life together in Montville, where they raised their family.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Peter spent over seven decades as a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #25.
Peter took great pride in his yard and garden. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his friends in the union retirement clubs and was a member of the St. Pius Knights of Columbus and the Montville Seniors. Always ready with a smile and a helping hand, he was a cherished friend to many.
Later in life, some of Peter’s greatest joys were his beloved Cadillac and, most importantly, his three great-grandchildren. As an adored “PopPop,” he was a source of endless love, wisdom, and laughter.
Although we are sad by his passing, we know that his cherished daughter Theresa Giannetti and his son in law Michael Lendino were at the gates to greet him along with countless other friends and relatives - and oh, what a reunion it must have been!
He leaves joyful memories to his wife Grace of 67 years; his children Peter Jr. and Catherine Lendino; grandchildren Samantha and Ryan Della Torre, Patrick Giannetti Jr.; great grandchildren Finnley, Olivia and Molly DellaTorre; son in law Patrick Giannetti; brother in law and sister in law Bruce and Dorothy Nicholson and many more dear friends.
Friends and relatives may visit on Sunday, February 23rd from 2 to 6 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 24 at 10:30 AM at Saint Pius X Church, 24 Changebridge Rd., Montville. Mausoleum entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Donations in his memory may be made to the good work of Saint Peter‘s Orphanage, 170 Diamond Spring Rd., Denville, NJ 07834.
