Obituary of Cynthia Ann Zoon
Cynthia Ann Gorski Zoon of Parsippany, NJ, known lovingly to all as “Cindy,” passed away on February 22, 2025 at the age of 61.
Born on August 5, 1963, in Newark, NJ, Cindy was the loving and devoted daughter of John and Carol Gorski (nee Nunes). She shared a wonderful life with William Zoon, her husband of 34 years. She had three beautiful daughters with whom she shared the “specialness” that can only occur between mothers and daughters: Kristen Wright and her husband, Frank; Holli Zoon and her partner, Joseph; Veronica Aiello and her husband, Giovanni. She was the proud Nanna of Kristen and Frank’s two sons, William and Malcolm. Cindy also shared a loving and unbreakable bond with her sister Lynn Marie McMahon (nee Gorsky) and her husband John. She enjoyed frequent visits with William’s sister Susan Devlin (nee Zoon), and her husband Robert.
Cindy’s family meant everything in the world to her. She hosted holiday after holiday, with her warm and loving home decorated from floor to ceiling. She thoughtfully picked out each gift, and always gave with her whole heart.
Cindy’s friendship circle was wide and strong. She had 30+ year friendships, friends she made just a year ago, and friends from every time in between. She loved to celebrate every occasion with a glass of wine, a ‘Na Zdrowie’ toast, and a big beautiful smile.
Cindy loved and cared for every living thing, from the smallest hermit crab found on the sand, to a goldfish from the fair, to her mothers dog Patches, to the rescue of the sweetest dog on the planet…her Verdell. Her numerous plants received detailed attention. She never gave up on them, knowing they would survive, even at their worst. That was Cindy…she loved and saved and enjoyed all living things.
While raising her daughters, Cindy worked for the Parsippany Library System for almost 25 years. She was a Paraprofessional in the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District for over 20 years and ended her career in the West Orange School District, before retiring in July. Over the years she worked lovingly, respectfully, and professionally with hundreds of children, parents, and colleagues.
Cindy loved all the magical things on, under, and above the earth: the ocean, the beach, a cloud-filled blue sky, a dark starry night, the phases of the moon, a crisp fall day. Her loved ones will have so many wonderful memories to rely on - of times spent in North Wildwood, at NY Jets games, dancing in her kitchen, playing board games, watching and reviewing movies, and just sitting in her home enjoying those she loved, who loved her so deeply in return.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 28th from 4pm - 8 pm at the funeral home. On Saturday, we will gather at 9:30 am before processing to Laurel Grove Cemetery for an 11 o'clock graveside service. Donations in Cindy's memory may be made to the good work of your local animal shelter.
