Unfortunately, when the children were still very young, her husband became seriously ill and was hospitalized in Beijing, remaining bedridden thereafter. In 1976, Liqing transferred to Beijing Primary School to teach, where she began a challenging life of balancing her teaching career, raising her children, and caring for her husband’s health. Despite the difficulties, she remained strong, optimistic, and never let life's hardships defeat her. After several years as a mathematics teacher, Liqing was promoted to the Director of General Affairs of the school, where she continued until her retirement.

She returned to the U.S. in 2000 to help her daughter care for her first grandchild. In 2006, she moved to the U.S. permanently to care for her two grandchildren.
In 2016, Liqing was diagnosed with liver cancer and underwent invasive surgery to remove the tumor. The cancer returned in 2021, but throughout this challenging time, Liqing continued to read the Bible, pray, and attend church meetings, maintaining a heart full of peace and joy. In 2020, she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Her health worsened in the summer of 2023, and she rested at home since then. After a nearly two-year battle with her illness, she peacefully passed away on March 29, 2025, resting in the arms of the Lord.
Liqing was known for her optimism, open-mindedness, compassion, and consideration for others. She had a wide range of interests, particularly a love for singing, and treated everyone with sincerity, earning the trust of her friends.
