
Obituary of Catherine Resko
Catherine Ann Resko (nee Cox) passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025 at her Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ home in the presence of family. She was 97.
Born in New York, NY, to the late James and Catherine (nee Piechota) Cox, her mother died shortly after her birth and her father married Catherine's sister, Julia, who would be responsible for raising Catherine and her two older sisters, as well as four additional Cox siblings.
Mrs. Resko graduated from Blessed Sacrament Catholic High School in Manhattan, NY. She met her husband, James J. Resko in Manhattan and the two were married in 1956. They began their life together in Bronx, NY, before settling in Parsippany, NJ in 1961, where they raised three boys.
In her early years, Catherine had worked as a bank teller in New York City. She subsequently worked as a keypunch operator for the Sears and Roebuck Company in Wayne, NJ before her retirement.
A devout Roman Catholic, she was a longtime member of St. Peter the Apostle Parish Community in Parsippany, NJ where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and an usher and greeter at Masses.
Following their retirements, Jim and Catherine travelled the world together, primarily to places where their son, Jeffrey was stationed in the United States Army including, Hawaii, Korea, and Japan. They also travel to Hungary, Ireland, France, Italy, Bosnia, and Alaska.
Catherine was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed by her loving family: her two sons, Paul J. Resko and his wife, Jane of Parsippany, NJ, and Jeffrey J. Resko and his wife, Kumiko of Woodbridge, VA.; a sister, Bernadette Korchak of Pearl River, NY; five grandchildren, Corinne Leake, Stephen Resko, Luke Resko and his wife, Ashley, Mia Resko, and William Pron and his wife, Tiffany; and five great-grandchildren Bailey Pron, Rylie Padgett, Billy Pron, Aydree Pron and Cooper Leake.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Monday, May 5, 2024, 4:00pm to 8:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, 11:00am at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Parsippany, NJ. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
