
Obituary of James C. Novak
James C. Novak, lovingly known as Jim, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 6, 2025 at Chilton Memorial Hospital in Pompton Plains, NJ, following a brief illness. He was 77.
Born and raised in Paterson, NJ, Jim met the love of his life, the former Georgann C. Brigindi there, and they were married on May 16, 1970. They moved to the Towaco section of Montville, NJ in 1981.
Mr. Novak served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was injured in the line of duty and received a Purple Heart for his meritorious service.
He attended the Morris County College and subsequently completed his Bachelor's Degree at Rutgers College.
Jim worked as an electrician with Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) before his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Georgann C. (nee Brighindi) Novak in January of 2024, and a brother, Joseph Novak. Jim is survived by his cherished daughter, Tara Altshul and her husband, Eugene of Bradenton, FL; his beloved grandson, Benjamin Altshul; two dear sisters, Margaret Pryor and her husband, Richard of Verona, NJ, and Patricia Dombrowski and her husband, Garrett of Clinton, NJ; and his nieces and nephews, Stephen Dombrowski, Lisa Casiez, Catherine Pryor, Christine Pryor, and Laura Hicinbothem.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, May 10, 2025, 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 12, 2025, 10:00am at St. Pius X R.C. Church, Montville. Military Honors will be given in the church narthex following Mass. Private cremation will follow at Locust Hill Crematory, Dover, NJ.
