Obituary of Alexander John Kostroun

Alexander John Kostroun, lovingly known as Alex, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at his home in Berkeley Heights, NJ. He was 36 years young.

Alex was born on April 19, 1989 in Morristown, NJ. He lived in Lake Hiawatha, NJ, and Morris Township, NJ before moving to Berkeley Heights, NJ. He graduated from Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, NJ where he was academically accomplished and was an exceptional athlete. After high school he attended the University of Tampa in Tampa, FL.

Alex was a kind, loving, sweet, compassionate, goofy, charismatic and caring young man.  He loved to skateboard, rollerblade, ride BMX bicycles and was into extreme sports. He loved adventure and anything challenging. He was a free spirit, a rebel at times, and lived life on his own terms. He had a passion for different genres of music, was a lover of eating good food from different cultures, especially authentic Thai food, where his family was from. He was a foodie like his Mama and loved to experiment with different recipes when he was given the opportunity to cook.

He loved scary movies, and often tried to scare his younger sisters. He had a crazy sense of humor and loved trying to make his sisters laugh. He was very in tune with his spiritual side and had a profound interest in exploring holistic healing. He was always trying to find a way to help and come up with herbal remedies to comfort his Mom’s pain during her own battles with her cancer struggles and his younger sister’s chronic illnesses. He truly loved his Mom and his family and would always claim to be their protector.

Alex is survived by his beloved parents, Primprapra Catherine (nee Kostroun) and George Christopher Knorr Jr.; his three cherished sisters, Kaileia E.M. Suvannamaccha, Hannah Rose Knorr, and Caitlin Elizabeth Knorr; his loving grandparents, John Edmund and Juang Aon Kostroun; as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and numerous extended family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation and celebration of Alex's life on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ.  Private cremation will follow on Sunday.
