
Obituary of Angela R. Oddo
Angela Rose Oddo (nee Bagnole) passed away peacefully Thursday morning, May 29, 2025 at Victoria Mews Assisted Living in Boonton Township. She was 94.
Born April 26, 1931 in Newark, NJ, Mrs. Oddo had lived in the Silver Lake section of Belleville, NJ as well as Lodi, NJ, before moving to Montville Township, NJ in 1964.
Angela met the love of her life, Joseph Anthony Oddo in Belleville and following a wonderful courtship, they were married on November 22, 1958. They spent 59 years together before his passing in 2017.
Mrs. Oddo earned her Bachelors Degree from St. Elizabeth College in 1953. She subsequently earned her Masters Degree from Montclair State University in 1984.
A biologist, she began her career as a researcher with the Hoffman LaRoche Co. in Clifton, NJ. After a hiatus to raise her three children, she returned to work in 1972 as a Biology Teacher for Montville High School. During her tenure of 26 years with Montville Public School System, she was a beloved educator who was loved and respected by students and faculty alike. She was honored as New Jersey State Teacher of the Year twice.
Angela was a longtime member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Montville and the Montville Township Seniors, where she had served as treasurer. She also served on the Montville Township Drug Awareness Council and worked on the first prototype of Project Graduation in the State of New Jersey in Montville.
Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Anthony Oddo, she is survived by her three beloved children, Elizabeth Kane and her husband Kevin of Montville, NJ, Joseph A. Oddo Jr. of Hackettstown, NJ, and Nancy Mertz and her husband Christopher of Towaco, NJ; her two dear siblings, Joseph Bagnole Jr. and his wife Donna of Leonardo, NJ, and Camille Nebus and her husband, Stephen of Cedar Grove, NJ; her six loving grandchildren, Melissa Essman and her husband, Andrew, Samantha Kane, Alison Kane O'Dea and her husband, Brendan, Nicole Sheeran and her husband, John, Amanda Lynch, and her husband Stephen, and Michael Mertz; and her two cherished great-grandchildren, Mason and Riley Essman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Sunday, June 1, 2025, 4:00pm to 7:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ . The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 2, 2025, 10:00am at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Montville, NJ. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum, East Hanover, NJ.
