Obituary of Nancy A. Hogan
Nancy Andre Hogan, our beloved mother, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, after 93 years filled with love and life.
Born to Theodore Nortz and Doris (nee Brown) in New Orleans, LA, Nancy was one of three daughters. Her family moved to New Jersey when she was young, and it was there she met her future husband, John “Jack” Hogan, in high school. Their connection was undeniable, and they married, settling in Montville to raise five children. Nancy was a devoted wife and a beautiful, kind, gentle and caring mother. She handled it all with dedication and love. Her home was a place of warmth, affection, and fun gatherings for family, friends, and neighbors.
She spent many years as a secretary for the Montville Board of Education, where she built strong friendships and made a positive, lasting impact on elementary and middle school students. Later in life, Nancy and Jack realized a long-held desire, moving to the scenic coast of Maine. They cherished many beautiful years there, enjoying their passions with the people they loved.
Nancy was an avid and skilled painter, particularly known for her landscapes and beautiful works of art she gifted to her family and friends. The serene beach of Ogunquit, ME was a constant source of peace and artistic inspiration for her; she never tired of the beauty of her favorite places.
A lifelong volunteer, Nancy always found ways to contribute to her community. She poured that same generous and affectionate spirit into her role as “Nanny” to her ten grandchildren and “Great-Nanny” to her two great-grandchildren. Being Nanny was undoubtedly her most cherished role, and she found immense happiness in her family and grandchildren, just as they did in her.
In her final years, she resided comfortably at The Oaks in Denville, where she received warm, attentive care.
She was preceded in death by her beloved Jack in 2002. Nancy leaves behind a wealth of precious memories for her children: Kathleen Condon (Dennis), Brenda Devereux (Eugene), Gail Warner (Clay), Timothy Hogan (Sandra), and Thomas Hogan (Marco). She is also remembered by her grandchildren: Nicole Bottie (Nick), Daniel Condon, Chelsea Dos Santos (Leo), Dylan Devereux (Erica) and Connor Devereux (Tiffany), Evan Warner (Meagan), Dane Warner (Kelly), and Griffin Warner, TJ Hogan (Julia), and Mackenzie Fortunato (Matthew); her two great-grandchildren Aubrey and Blake; her dear sisters Joan Quarry and Peggy Mucci; several nieces and nephews; and her loyal granddog Chiquita, whom she affectionately called “PupPup.” She will also be fondly remembered by many other beloved relatives and friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit on Wednesday, July 9th, from 4-8 pm at the S. J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 10th, at 10:30 am at St. Peter the Apostle Parish, 179 Baldwin Rd., Parsippany. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
