Obituary of Zenko O Diaczuk

Please share a memory of Zenko to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Zenko O. Diaczuk, of Boonton, New Jersey, passed away at St. Clare’s hospital. He was born in 1942 in Galicia, Ukraine, and as a young man immigrated to the United States with his family.

After completing his schooling, Zenko was drafted into the United States Army and honorably served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon his discharge, he returned to the States and lived in the Philadelphia area. There, he enjoyed some happy years sharing his love of Ukrainian culture—singing with the Prometheus Ukrainian Male Chorus and dancing with the Ukrainian dance ensemble.

Zenko returned to New Jersey, where he devoted decades of his career to the General Trading Company in Carlstadt. He was also a longtime parishioner of St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Whippany, where his faith was an important part of his life.

He was predeceased by his beloved parents, William and Olha. He is survived by his sisters, Virginia (Ewhenia) Diaczuk and Marta Steffen and her husband Donald.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 North Jefferson Road, Whippany, NJ. Interment with military honors will follow in the Diaczuk family plot at St. Andrew’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, South Bound Brook.
