Obituary of Maria Biase

Maria Biase (nee Egnezzo) passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026 at the age 94. 

Maria was born in Orange, NJ to the late Anthony and Mary.  She was one of two children to bless the family.  After her schooling, she met Michael Biase.  They married and started their family in Bloomfield, later moving to Montville where they would spend over 50 years.  In recent years, they relocated to the Oaks in Denville.

Maria was the quintessential Italian Mother, always caring for and feeding everyone who entered her home.  She was an exceptional cook and her kitchen was always a buzz. She worked hard alongside her husband Michael to give her sons a good life.  She was a woman of deep faith and deeply cared for her family and friends. She worked at Shoprite in Caldwell for many years and enjoyed the friendships she made along the way.

Above all, she loved being with her family.  She was the proud Grandmother to three and the adoring Great Grandma to two little ones.

Although we are saddened by her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is with her beloved Michael once again. 

Maria was predeceased by her husband Michael Biase (2023) and her brother Frank Egnezzo; she leaves her sons Michael (Wendy) and Anthony (Fran); her grandchildren Deanna (Jon) Harkel, Michael Biase (fiancé Kelsey) and Stephanie Biase; her great grandchildren James and Henry; and many more dear relatives, friends and caretakers.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 5th from 3pm to 7pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 6th at 11 am at St. Pius X Church, 24 Changebridge Road, Montville.  Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.  Donations in her name may be made to the good work of St. Jude Children's Resarch Hospital.
