Obituary of John H. Proctor

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John H. “Jack” Proctor, 78, passed away on March 9, 2026. Born on May 11, 1947, to the late Harry and Marian Proctor, Jack was raised in Wayne, New Jersey. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, with assignments in Fort Collins, Colorado, and Germany.

Following his honorable discharge, Jack returned to New Jersey, where he built a life centered on family. He raised his two daughters in Parsippany and, years later, married the love of his life, Vincenza “Vinnie.” Their story began when they met as young teenagers at “Tuesday Teens for Christ,” just 12 and 13 years old—a bond that would come full circle decades later. Through their marriage, Jack lovingly embraced Vinnie’s daughter, Brenda, completing their family. Together, they made their home in Roxbury Township for many years before retiring to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, ten years ago.

Jack discovered his talent for welding during his time in the Army, launching a long and successful career in the trade. He worked for Curtis Wright, Titanium Industries (later TiFab), and ultimately retired from Swepco Tube in Clifton, New Jersey, in 2016. Known for his strong work ethic, intelligence, and integrity, Jack quickly rose to leadership roles, earning the respect and appreciation of colleagues and company owners alike. He was a dedicated provider who took great pride in caring for his family—and could fix just about anything around the house.

A man of warmth and generosity, Jack had a gift for bringing people together. He loved to cook, entertain, and host gatherings, especially around his grill. His home was often filled with friends and family enjoying time by the pool or sharing meals together. Jack and Vinnie created many cherished traditions, including their beloved “Dinner on the Deck” evenings and beautiful Christmas Eve celebrations. He also treasured family vacations to Long Beach Island, where he delighted in the ocean, sunshine, and laughter that made those moments unforgettable.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Vinnie; his loving daughters, Patrice Proctor (Russ Tucker), Jennifer LaFlesh (Bill), and Brenda Robinson; his cherished grandchildren, Justin Harvey, Brittany Lamberty, Brianna Smith, Morgan Timper, Alexis Smith, Jack Timper,  Jake and Ryan LaFlesh, and his great-grandchildren, Rebel John and Miles David. He is also survived by his brother, James Proctor, sister-in-law MaryJane Proctor along with many loving relatives, neighbors, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his siblings, William Proctor and Alice Proctor, First wife and Patrice and Jennifer's mother Margaret York.

A memorial visitation will be held on May 9, 2026 from 12 pm - 2 pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service. Military honors will be rendered.
