Obituary of Marie Domenick

Marie D. Domenick (nee Pingatore) passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Thursday, April 16, 2026. She was 93. 

Mrs. Domenick was born August 6, 1932 in White Haven, PA to John and Edith Pingitore. Sadly, her mother passed away three days after her birth and she was subsequently adopted by her aunt, Laura Barber, who lovingly raised Marie as her own in Perth Amboy, NJ.  She studied nursing as a young woman in Manhattan, NY.

She met her love, Robert J. Domenick in 1963 while they were both attending night school at Rutgers College in Newark, NJ. After a three-year courtship, they were married in Perth Amboy, NJ on July 16, 1966. The couple settled briefly in the Branch Brook section of Belleville, NJ, before purchasing their first home in the Pine Brook section of Montville, NJ in 1967, where they have lived for the last 59 years. 

A brilliant woman, Marie studied analytic chemistry, and had worked as a chemist for the Schering-Plough Company.  She subsequently worked in the same capacity with Hoffman LaRoche and Warner Lambert Corporation.  In the later part of her career, she was a phlebotomist at the Parsippany Blood Center before her retirement. 

Marie and Bob were avid sailors, and Marie was very much at home boating on the sea.  

A devout Roman Catholic, Marie was a longtime member of St. Pius X Parish in Montville where she attended mass regularly and participated in numerous prayer groups.  She was a member of the Montville Seniors, the Montville Garden Club, and the Montville Welcoming Committee.  She had also served on the Montville Township Volunteer First Aid Squad in her younger years.

Marie is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Robert "Bob" Domenick; her beloved son, Gregory “Greg” Domenick and his wife, Barbara of Blairstown, NJ; her dear sisters, Pat Van Hise, Mary Cole, and Jean Pingatore all of Trenton, NJ; and her four adored granddaughters, Jayelee, Katelin, Madelyn, and Lilyana.  She was preceded in death by a brother, John Pingatore; and two sisters, June Ostringa and Alberta Kipp. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Monday, April 20, 2026, 4;00PM to 8:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha (Parsippany), NJ. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, 10:00am at St. Pius X R.C. Church, Montville, NJ. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum, East Hanover, NJ.
