Agnes Marie Dzamba (nee Allegra) passed away Monday afternoon, May 4, 2026 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ surrounded by the love of her family, including husband Donald and sons Mark and Matthew.

Agnes and her brothers John, Donald and Joseph were born and raised in Paterson, NJ before moving to Hawthorne for their formative years. She set the stage for a long impactful career as an educator by earning her Bachelor's Degree in English from Montclair State University followed by her Master’s from Seton Hall University.

Her career started where it ended, as an English teacher at John F. Kennedy High School in Paterson, NJ, where she influenced thousands of students over her 32 years before retiring in 2000.

Agnes and her husband Donald G. Dzamba were married on August 17, 1968 and spent 57 wonderful loving years together.  The couple established their roots  in Montville Township in 1971, residing in the same home today.

She loved to travel with her husband, especially in their recreational vehicle, as they shared many adventures crisscrossing the country visiting many national parks, sports venues and Catholic churches.

Agnes was the de facto matriarch of her extended family carrying forward the family traditions of her beloved late mother Anna and father, Joseph. She had a passion for gardening and cooking, and lived a very purposeful life grounded by family, friends, food and her devout faith.

Agnes was a longtime parishioner of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Montville, where she served as a eucharistic minister, lector,  member of the Rosary Society and led the Intercessory Parish Prayer Group for over 35 years. She was also a member of the Montville Seniors.

She could often be found attending the sports and dance events of her grandchildren whom she absolutely adored and loved sharing their accomplishments with friends and family.

Agnes is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Donald G. Dzamba; two beloved sons, Mark Dzamba and his wife, Nicole of Boonton Township, NJ , and Matthew Dzamba and his wife, Vanessa of Manhattan Beach, CA; three brothers, John Allegra and his wife, Diane of Montville, NJ, Donald Allegra and his wife, Annette of Randolph, NJ, and Joseph Allegra and his wife, Bobbie of Hilton Head, SC; and her five cherished grandchildren, Ava, Marco, Mario, Brady, and Benicio Dzamba along with many nieces and nephews.
