Obituary of Peter J. Bove Jr.

Peter J. Bove Jr., 65, passed away suddenly on May 18, 2026. Born to the late Peter and Patricia Bove, Peter was raised in West Caldwell and returned back many years ago where he has lived ever since.

He was a dedicated employee for Gallagher Bassett as an insurance adjustor. Outside of work, he was a longtime and active member of the Livingston Elks Lodge. He enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie shared.

A devoted sports fan, Pete loved following the stats, stories, and history of the games he enjoyed most — baseball, football, NASCAR, and golf. He was often found relaxing with the Food Network on his TV and more often than not, a stash of Good & Plenty candies close by.

Above all, Pete was a devoted and dependable brother who was always ready to lend a hand whenever needed. He will be missed by his loving sisters, Susan Bove and Barbara Garafano and her husband Dan; his cherished niece and nephew, Katie Garafano and Nick Garafano and his wife Nicole; along with many more family, friends, and fellow Elks members.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Catholic prayer service will begin at 4:00 p.m. Peter will be laid to rest alongside his beloved parents in the Bove family plot at Prospect Hill Cemetery. A celebration of life BBQ is scheduled for Monday, May 25th at 2:00 p.m with a rain date of Saturday May 30th.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the good work of The Livingston Elks Lodge at 19 W. Mount Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ 07039
