Obituary of Irving T. Schneider
Irving T. Schneider, affectionately known as "Ted" passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at St. Clare's Hospital in Denville, NJ, following a brief illness. He was 96.
A native Brooklyn, NY, he had resided many years in Flushing, NY, before coming to live with his daughters in Parsippany, NJ in 2004. He moved to Montville, NJ in 2019.
Mr. Schneider proudly served his country in the United States Army during peacetime.
He had worked as a jeweler for many years with Rudy Levy Jewelers in New York, NY, before his retirement in 1992.
He enjoyed building model airplanes and boats in his youth, hobbies that reflected his creativity and attention to detail. As an adult, he was an active and devoted member of the Toastmasters Club in Queens, New York, where he found great joy in writing, delivering speeches, and developing leadership skills. During retirement, he spent his time painting, playing cards, and working on puzzles. Above all, he cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the true center of his life.
Mr. Schneider was a former member of the Parsippany Senior Citizens.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley (formally Umles) Schneider and his dear daughter, Francine P. Brown; Ted is survived by his loving daughters, Ellen S. Shelsky and her husband, Malcolm of Summerville, SC formally from Parsippany, NJ and Marilyn Schneider of Queens, NY; his son-in-law, Keith Brown of Lake Hiawatha, NJ; three granddaughters, Amanda Crotts and husband Stewart Crotts, Sharon Skibitski and husband Richard Skibitski, Melissa Rosen and husband Adam Rosen; and seven amazing great-grandchildren, Jameson Crotts, Bailey Crotts and Hendrix Crotts. Sophie Skibitski, Patrick Skibitski, Shayna Rosen, and Ariella Rosen.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Friday, May 29, 2026, 10:00am at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. Interment will follow at Mount Ararat Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
