Obituary of Antoinette Fede
Antoinette (nee Mastropolo ) Fede, lovingly known as "Ann" passed away peacefully Saturday morning, May 30, 2026 at Hackensack University Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 96.
A native of Jersey City, NJ, she was one of ten children born to Giovanni and Concetta (nee Romano) Mastropolo. Ann spent most of her life in North Bergen, NJ before moving to Nutley, NJ 16 years ago.
Mrs. Fede met her late husband, Fred in North Bergen. Following a brief courtship, they were married in 1952, and spent 29 years together before his untimely passing.
She worked as an administrative assistant with the Internal Revenue Service in Jersey City for over 40 years before retiring in 2000. Previously, she had worked in the same capacity with the Selective Service Draft Board, also in Jersey City.
Ann and her late husband Fred had been members of the Fair View Chapter of UNICO National.
A soft-spoken, kind and unassuming woman, Ann had a beautiful smile and a quiet presence. She faced life's challenges with resilience that inspired everyone who knew her. She could often be found behind the scenes at family events, always attending to her children and grandchildren whom she cherished.
Preceded in death by her husband Fred Fede in 1981; her daughter, Susan Fede Maddi in 1999, and her nine siblings, Frank, Joseph, Edward, James, John, and Richard Mastropolo, Alice Trunselito, Nancy Kukowski, and Marie Weiner; Ann is survived by her two loving children, Nancy Fede of Nutley, and Fred & Janice Fede of Belleville; six adored grandchildren, John Maddi, Steven Maddi and his wife, Sharon, Michael Falco and his wife, Jessica, Christopher Falco, Nicholas Fede and his wife, Sara, and Melissa Fede; and her first great-grandson, Michael Theodore Falco.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday evening, June 3, 2026, 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Biondi Funeral Home, 540 Franklin Avenue, Nutley, NJ. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Holy Family Chapel, Nutley. Interment will follow at Macpelah Cemetery, North Bergen. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for memorial gifts to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://stjude.org) in Ann's memory.
