Obituary of Michael J. Thompson

Michael J. Thompson passed away suddenly Thursday afternoon, June 25, 2026 at Morristown Medical Center following an extended illness. He was 75.
Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Mr. Thompson had lived in Belleville before coming to Montville Township, NJ over 30 years ago.
Mr. Thompson had worked as a manager with the United States Postal Service in various locations, most recently, the Whippany, NJ branch before his retirement in 2012.
Michael was an avid fly fisherman and loved a good cigar.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Tai Sheng (Teresa) Liu; two loving sons, Michael Thompson and his wife, Gloria of Nutley, NJ, and Joseph Thompson of Lyndhurst, NJ; as well as his six adored grandchildren, Isabella Thompson, Lola Thompson, Mia Thompson, Christian Thompson, Ashley Thompson and Michael A. Thompson.
At the family's request, the visitation and cremation were held privately. For those so desiring, memorial gifts in honor of Michael can be made to The American Heart Association.
