How does one say good bye to a true, lifelong friend? I have known Larry since the early 1980’s, initially as a coworker in the Belleville High School science department. I was so impressed by the respect he commanded from his students. Our professional relationship evolved into a friendship, especially after I was introduced to his loving wife, Irene. The two were truly a devoted couple. I can’t think of one without the other. To me, it was always “Irene and Larry” or “Larry and Irene.” I couldn’t voice one without the other. Larry did not need many friends because Irene was always by his side.
Larry was a person of incredibly high moral character. He was honest and did not mince words when telling the truth. To me, he was a solid rock: Always available to lend a helping hand. I was amazed at how incredibly knowledgeable he was in so many areas. As I look around my home, Larry’s presence is apparent. (computers, closets, ceiling fans, patio furniture, microwave). You name it, he could fix it. If not, he would research the problem until he found a solution. In this respect, he was driven and always a continuous learner. My friend Larry also gave me emotional support through a broken marriage and failed relationships. I will truly miss his wicked sense of humor and his hearty laugh. Rest well, my friend, knowing that I have Irene’s back. Sleep with the angels forever.
