Obituary of Lawrence G. Bellott
Lawrence G. Bellott, affectionately known by all as "Larry," passed away Monday afternoon, August 3, 2026 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by the love of his family. He was 74.
A native of Newark, NJ, Larry was a graduate of Beringer High School in Newark and subsequently earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Education from William Paterson College in 1972.
He met his love, the former Irene Kundracky " Rene" while in college. The couple were married on July 13, 1974, beginning a wonderful love affair of 52 years. They lived briefly as newlyweds in Bloomfield, NJ before settling in Pequannock, NJ in 1978 where they started their family.
Mr. Bellott had been a physics teacher at Belleville High School, Belleville, NJ for 15 years, retiring in 1988. He and his wife, Rene, later founded Flowers by Rene, a local Flower Shop and the School of Floral Design in the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany which they operated for many years together, before selling the business to enjoy retirement in 2018.
Larry believed in living life with purpose and taking pride in the things he loved. He enjoyed working out at his local gym, where he encouraged others to embrace a healthy lifestyle, and he remained dedicated to staying active and fit throughout his life. As an avid gardener with a genuine appreciation for botany, Larry found great joy in tending to his garden and home landscape, taking immense satisfaction in creating and maintaining its beauty. He also had a remarkable artistic talent for scroll saw woodworking and a gift for craftsmanship, always eager to tackle a project or lend a helping hand. Whether sharing his knowledge, teaching a new skill, or helping someone in need, Larry found genuine happiness in supporting others
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Rene Bellott; his beloved daughter, Danielle Rose Petonak and her husband, Timothy of Pompton Plains, NJ; a brother, Anthony Bellott of Brick, NJ; and his two cherished grandchildren, Kadence and Kristian Petonak of Pompton Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose (nee Pagano) Bellott; and three brothers, Victor Bellott, Ralph Bellotti, and Donald Bellott.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 8, 2026, 11:30am at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, Pequannock, NJ.
