Sister Agnes Bertrand Drew, 88, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ.
Sister Agnes Bertrand was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the daughter of Edward and Josephine (Lindner) Drew. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1944 and was a member for 68 years.
Sister Agnes Bertrand graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in elementary education, and from Seton Hall University, South Orange, with a M.A. degree in reading.
Sister Agnes Bertrand was an educator in the State of New Jersey. She served as teacher at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, Hoboken; Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament School, East Orange; St. Francis School, Ridgefield Park; St. Cecilia School Kearny and was Principal in St. Cecilia School from 1966 to1967. She then taught in St. Thomas the Apostle School, Bloomfield; Our Lady of All Souls, East Orange; and Our Lady Help of Christians, East Orange. She was a visitor for the sick in Allendale Nursing Home, Allendale, NJ from 1991 to 2006 and retired to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ in 2006 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
