Sister Mary Swanwick, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Monday, May 6, 2013 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ at the age of 87.
Sister Mary Swanwick was born in Goshen, New York, the daughter of William and Helen (Dineen) Swanwick. She entered the Sisters of Charity on April 2, 1949 and was a member for 64 years.
Sister Mary Swanwick graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Paterson, NJ with a RN. She then received a B.S. in Nursing from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ. Sister Mary served in the health ministry in New York, and in New Jersey. She served as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center, and as a Nurse/Pharmacy Technician. Sister Mary also served as Nurse/Pharmacy Technician in St. Mary's Hospital, Passaic, NJ. She worked as a Medical Records Clerk in Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, NY. Sister Mary was Assistant Sacristan in Holy Family Chapel, Convent Station, NJ and served as a nurse to the local community from 1997 to 2007. She moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2007where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; one brother, Robert (Helen), Middletown, NY; two sisters-in-law, Alice Swanwick, New Mexico and Carol Swanwick, Goshen, NY; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
