Obituary of SISTER MARY ELLEN HEALY

Sister Mary Ellen Healy, 79, formerly Sister John Francis, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ. Sister Mary Ellen was born in New York City, NY, the daughter of John and Catherine (Ruddy) Healy. She entered the Sisters of Charity on August 20, 1959 and was a member for 53 years. Sister Mary Ellen graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.S. degree in Education. Sister Mary Ellen was an Educator in the State of New Jersey. She served as a teacher at Our Lady of Victories School, Jersey City; St. Bridget School, Jersey City; St. Patrick School, Jersey City; Sacred Heart School, Jersey City; Corpus Christi School, Hasbrouck Heights; St. Francis School, Ridgefield; and Seton Center, Jersey City. She was part-time staff at St. Frances Residence and was a volunteer and teacher at Josephine's Place, Elizabeth. She moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2009 where she resided until her death. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sister, Loretta Healy Castrovinci; her sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and William Faherty; her sister-in-law Barbara Healy; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ, 07961-0476.
