Dorothy Bauer Fedor, a Summit resident since 1948, passed away in the comfort of her home on Sunday evening, September 22, 2013.
Born Dorothy Selina Bauer in Linden, NJ, she was the eldest daughter of George and Ada Bauer of Summit, NJ.
She graduated from Linden High School in 1935 and was a 1939 graduate of Cornell University, majoring in English and History. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. After graduation, she taught history in the Linden school system from 1939 to 1944.
She married Walter Paul Fedor in February of 1943. He was the love of her life. Walter passed away in 2004 after a long illness. They raised three children: Kathleen Jessup of Summit, NJ, Jack Fedor (Alice) of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Donald Fedor of Palmetto, GA.
Dorothy and Walter moved to Summit in 1948, started raising their family, and joined Central Presbyterian Church in 1949. Dorothy taught Sunday school and was an active member for over 60 years. Dorothy and Walter spent many happy years enjoying their winter home in Boynton Beach, Florida. They were long time residents and members of the Quail Ridge Golfing community. She and Walter were also past members of Echo Lake Country Club and Baltusrol Golf Club. Dorothy was a 40 year member of TWIG, a volunteer service organization for Overlook Hospital.
Dorothy had three brothers and one sister. She is survived by her brother Robert who resides in CT and FL, and was preceded in death by her parents George and Ada, brothers Grant Bauer and Raymond Bauer, and sister Janet Boak. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Dorothy will be remembered most for her passion for life, her total love, support, and devotion to family, along with her warmth and loyalty to all her knew her. Internment will be in the Memorial Garden at Central Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Overlook Hospital Foundation in Summit, NJ or to the Central Presbyterian Church in Summit, NJ. A celebration of life service is being planned by family.
