Sister Anne Rosalie Gordon, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ at the age of 89.
Sister Anne Rosalie was born in North Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of James N. and Catherine Reddin Gordon. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1940 and was a member for 73 years.
Sister Anne Rosalie graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ, with a B.S. degree in Education and an M.A. degree in Education of Physically Handicapped from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ.
Sister Anne Rosalie served in the education ministry in New Jersey She served as a teacher at Sacred Heart School, New Brunswick; Sacred Heart School, Bloomfield; St. Philip the Apostle School, Saddle Brook; and St. Margaret of Scotland School, Morristown. Sister Anne Rosalie served as a Special Education teacher at St. Patrick School, Newark; St. Francis School, Ridgefield Park and St. Michael School, Palisades Park. Sister Anne Rosalie was Principal in Mt. Carmel School, Montclair, and in St. Anthony School, Belleville. In 1992, she retired to Bloomfield, NJ and in 2007, moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her cousin, Catherine Wells and Catherine's daughter, Helen Hunter, Middlesex, NJ; and her good friend, Marie Segal, East Brunswick, NJ.
