Sister Therese Anthony Gallihar, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ at the age of 88.
Sister Therese Anthony was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of William and Hilda (Kennedy) Gallihar. She entered the Sisters of Charity on October 1, 1950 and was a member for 63 years.
Sister Therese Anthony graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in Education. Sister Therese Anthony served in the education ministry and in the health ministry in the States of New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts. She served as a teacher at St. Joseph School, Jersey City, NJ; St. Patrick School, Jersey City, NJ; St. Cecilia School, Kearny, NJ; St. Joseph School, Roxbury, MA; St. Mary School, Waterbury, CT; St. John School, New Haven, CT; St. Stephen School, Kearny, NJ; Our Lady of Sorrows School, South Orange, NJ; St. Bridget School, Jersey City, NJ; Sacred Heart School, Roslindale, MA and she also served as a librarian in Sacred Heart, Vailsburg, NJ. She served in health care for the elderly in Quincy, MA, Paterson, NJ, Clifton, NJ, Cambridge, MA and Catherine McHale Center, Newton, MA. She moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ in 2007 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her cousins Marguerite Christopher and Barbara Burke.
