Norman L. Recchia, 82, passed away Sunday evening, December 29, 2013 at his home in Montville, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Newark, he was a longtime resident of West Orange before coming to Montville in 1986.
Mr. Recchia served in the United States Army Reserves for 15 years.
He had worked in the contracting industry for over 65 years before retiring in 2007. He was the owner and operator of West Orange Contracting for 50 years. He was also a gentleman farmer, and had owned a dairy farm for many years.
Mr. Recchia was a member of St. Pius X R.C. Church, Montville, and was a charter mermber of Montville Unico. He was also a 50-year member of the West Orange Lions Club, and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Dolores D. (nee DePalo); his loving children, Norma Gianetti and Phyllis Virgil and her husband Richard all of Montville; two sisters, Marie Farro of Roseland and Clarice Recchia of Toms River; 3 grandchildren, Christina Mascellino and her husband John II, and Sabrina and Richard Virgil; and a great-grandson, John Mascellino III.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St.. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
