Sister Therese Martin Hanily, 100, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died June 12, 2014 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ.
Sister Therese Martin was born in Newark, New Jersey the daughter of Martin and Nellie (Dougherty) Hanily. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 19, 1933 and was a member 81 years.
She graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey with a B.S. degree in elementary education.
Sister Therese Martin served in the education ministry in the state New Jersey. She served as a teacher at Our Lady of Grace School, Hoboken; St. Rose of Lima School, Short Hills; St. Patrick School, Newark; St. Antoninus School, Newark; Star of the Sea Academy, Long Branch; and in Holy Cross School, Harrison. She retired to St. Anne Villa, Convent Station in 1992 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
