Obituary of MARGO P. LEITHEAD

Margo Payne Leithead, 81, of Parsippany, formerly of Asbury, PA. passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was born on January 15, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of the late Herbert Allyn and the late Winifred Roberson Payne.
She was raised in New York City, attended Miss Hewitt's School, and made wonderful memories with her beloved governess, the late "Miss Maguire." Margo attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, where she earned her undergraduate degree. She went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing form Columbia University and her Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.
She enjoyed a very successful career as an instructor for the Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing, the Pennsylvania State University School of Nursing, as well as the Jefferson University School of Nursing.
In addition to her nursing career, Margo was a very active volunteer for the United States Pony Clubs, a youth organization founded in Europe and devoted to young people under the age of 25 years and the care of their horses and ponies. She served as the President of the Pony Club from 2003-2007. The Pony Club has approximately 1000,00 members in the United States.
In addition, she was a very active parishioner at Christ Episcopal Church in Berwick, PA. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
In addition to many close and valued friends, especially Kay and John Carter of Stillwater, PA., Margo is survived by her husband, Roger of Albany, NY; and their five children, Roger Jr. (Tad) and his wife Sue of Atlanta, GA., and their children Barry and Michael, John and his wife Merry Kay of Raleigh, NC, and their children, Matthew, Tyler, Braedan, Morgan, and Brooke, Holly of Lincoln Park, NJ and her children, Merrill, her husband Travis, Margo, Melinda, and Morgan, Hannah and her husband Tim of Lincoln Park, NJ and their children Timmy, Brendan, Sean, and Meghann, and Timothy and his wife Lauren of Merion Station, PA., and their children Cailin and Duncan. She also has two great-grandchildren, Anderson and Camille. In addition, she is survived by her beloved dog Sophie.
A party in celebration of Margo's life will be hosted by her family following the funeral services at her old home, 413 Harrison Road, Orangeville, PA at 2:00pm.
