Sister Alice Elenita Barry, 89, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ. Sister Alice Elenita was born in Bayonne, NJ the daughter of William and Isabella (Boyle) Barry. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1942 and was a member for 71 years. Sister Alice Elenita was an educator in New Jersey. She served as a teacher at St. Nicholas, Passaic; St. Mary School, Plainfield; and St. Patrick School, Jersey City. Sister Alice Elenita served as Principal/Teacher at St. Paul Elementary School, Ramsey. She then served at Immaculate Conception, Franklin. Sister Alice Elenita served helping teachers in music at various schools in Newark, NJ. She moved to St. Aloysius, Newark where she served as sacristan. She moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 1967 where she resided until her death. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her brother Bart Barry and his wife Joanne; Sisters-in-law Mary and Elaine; first cousins Msgr. Francis Seymour, Sister Alla Anne Boyle, Gene Boyle and Margaret Mary Mahon; nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P. O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476 would be greatly appreciated.
