Sister John Louise McCann, age 89, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died October 11, 2014 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ
Sister John Louise was born in New Brunswick, N.J., the daughter of John and Louise (Paulus) McCann. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1944 and was a member for 70 years. She graduated from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, N.J. with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education.
Sister John Louise was an educator in the State of New Jersey. She served as teacher in St. Peter's School, Jersey City from 1946 to 1952; Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament School, East Orange from 1952 to 1959; Our Lady of Victories School, Harrington Park from 1959 to 1965; Holy Trinity School, Fort Lee, from 1965 to 1966; St. Peter Elementary School, New Brunswick from 1966 to 2003. She served as a volunteer in Robert W. Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, from 2003 to 2005 and in J.F.K. Hospital, Edison from 2005 to 2006, and moved to the Convent of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station in 2006.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sister Mary Lou Zimmerman (Vincent), her brother Cedric McCann (Betty), and sister in law Christine; and, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her brothers John and Lawrence, and a sister Louise.
