Gabriel J. Bonanni passed away Friday February 6th, 2015 at his home in Boonton following an extended illness.
Born in Boonton, Gabe was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Bonanni served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was a United States Postal Worker in the Boonton Post Office for 36 years serving 10 of those years as Postmaster before retiring in 1988. He was subsequently employed with Chase Bank in Morristown for 10 years.
Gabe was a lifelong active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church where he served as an usher for many years. He was extremely proud to be a 60 year volunteer firefighter with South Boonton Hose and Engine Co. #3 of the Boonton Fire Department. He was a member of the South Boonton Field Club, the Boontonites, the Walter J. Barrett Council of the Knights of Columbus, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 242, all in Boonton, He was also a member of the US Postal Service Retired Post Masters Association.
Gabe is survived by his loving wife of 60 Years, Angelina G.Bonanni ( Bacchetta): a son John Bonanni, two daughters Rosemarie Sullivan of Boonton and Angela Manning of Denville, a son in law Kevin Manning and a daughter in law Debbie Bonanni, two sisters, Yolanda Bonanni and EdithBacchetta, and six grandchildren, Mathew Sullivan, Brian and Connor Manning , and Danielle, Nicole and Christina Bonanni.
In lieu of flowers the family would ask donations be sent to the Boonton Kiwanis First Aid Squad who time after time provided assistance to Gabe during his illness or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
