Most know him as Walter, I know him as Jaja. He was a wonderful man who was strong willed and loving. His family meant everything to him. My grandfather and grandmother were married for 55 years. He loved her so much. He would always light up the room with his funny humor and sarcasm anywhere he went. Some of my greatest memories were with him when I was a child. He would always drink a shot of vinegar and offer me some and tell me "It's good, it will clean out my pipes". As a child I thought that was disgusting so he thought it would be funny chasing my sister and I around the house trying to kiss us with his vinegar lips. This became a routine :) My sister Kristin and I would always watch Annie and sing "The sun will come out tomorrow". I guess we overplayed it because my grandfather would joke around and tell us to turn it off because he cannot listen to Annie anymore or if we sang "We are Marching to Pretoria" he would chase us around the house. He did a lot of chasing and we did a lot of running. I feel I can go on forever. My most recent memories are with my daughter and Jaja. He would sing to her and blow raspberries like he use to with my sister and I. My daughter and grandfather would talk and talk and they seemed to understand each other well and laugh often. He was always smiling and laughing with my daughter. She loves him so much and he loved her. My grandfather's humor stayed with him even through his toughest times. To be honest, that is what got me through mine. I am going to miss him so much. A piece of my heart feels empty with him no longer here with us laughing and smiling but I know one day we will meet again. And when we do our family will be complete again with him and my mother. I was so lucky to have him as a grandfather and I am proud my daughter got to call him her Jaja.
