Sister Rosemary McNabb, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at St. Anne Villa in Florham Park. She was 88.
Sister Rosemary was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Cratty) McNabb. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8th, 1946 and was a member for 68 years.
She graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in elementary education and from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ with an M.A. degree in Supervision.
Sister Rosemary was an educator and a social worker in the states of New Jersey, Mississippi, and Massachusetts. In New Jersey, she taught at St. Michael School, Union City; St. Thomas the Apostle School, Bloomfield; Mt. St. Joseph Children's Center, Totowa; St. John School, Paterson and Immaculate Conception School, Elizabeth. She was Principal at the Academy of St. Aloysius Elementary School, Jersey City. She served at St. Helen Parish, Amory, MS and worked in services to the elderly at Unity Housing Project, Boston, MA, and as case manager for Boston University Medical Center, Boston, MA, followed by Director of Social Services at Mason Place Apartment Complex, Boston. She then served as project manager at State Street Div. Mgmt. Co., Boston; as Tenant Services Coordinator at Symphony Plaza, East Boston and in Pine Street Inn, Boston. She was a volunteer at St. Francis House, Boston and retired to Saint.Anne Villa in 2008 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary McNabb, nieces and nephews, grand- and great-grand nieces and nephews.
