Sister Dorothy Impens formerly Sister Camille Louise, 85, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ.
Sister Dorothy was born in Paterson, NJ, the daughter of David and Leona (Brookhart) Impens. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 6, 1953 and was a member for 62 years.
Sister Dorothy graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.A. degree in English and from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh with an M.A. degree in English. Sister Dorothy served in the education ministry in the State of New Jersey. She served as a teacher at St. Joseph School, Oradell; St. Nicholas School, Passaic; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School; St. Michael High School, Union City; St. Mary High School, Elizabeth; East Orange Catholic High School, East Orange; Marylawn of the Oranges, South Orange. She served at DePaul Catholic High School, Wayne as Teacher, Chairperson of the English Dept. and tuition Coordinator. She was an Archives Assistant at the Generalate of the Sisters of Charity, Convent Station and retired to the Convent of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station in 2011 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sister, Linda Karmon, and many nieces and nephews.
