Obituary of JOANNE B. VAN STEYN

Joanne B. Van Steyn (nee Godri), 62, passed away Sunday evening, May 11, 2015 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born in Passaic, she had been a resident of Wayne before coming to the Pine Brook section of Montville Township 33 years ago. Mrs. Van Steyn earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in education from William Paterson College in Wayne. She had worked as a special needs teacher and learning consultant for 30 years with the Morris Plains School District before her recent retirement. Mrs. Van Steyn was a member of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church where she volunteered as weekly collection counter. She was also a longtime volunteer with the Montville First Aid Squad and the Archway Program for special needs adults in Montville. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Paul D. Van Steyn; two children, Amanda Jean Hart and her husband Christian of Parsippany and David Paul Van Steyn and his wife Alison of Rockaway; a sister, Sister Patricia A. Godri SC of Convent Station; and an aunt, Mary Godri of Clifton. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to Autism Speaks.
