Obituary of SISTER ELLEN NORMILE

Sister Ellen Normile, 92, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ. Sister Ellen Normile was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, the daughter of John J. and Mary (Downey) Normile. She entered the Sisters of Charity in March 25th, and was a member for 74 years. She graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in education, and from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA with an M.Ed in education. Sister Ellen Normile was an educator in Connecticut, New Jersey and Massachusetts. She served as teacher in St. Lucy School, Jersey City, NJ; St. Thomas School, Waterbury, CT; Blessed Sacrament School, Jamaica Plain, MA; and St. Mary School, Waterbury, CT. She then volunteered at Catherine Mary McHale Center, Newton, MA. She was Eucharistic Minister at Quincy Medical Center, Quincy, MA and at Pagnano Towers, Quincy, MA. She resided at Caritas Community, Jersey City, NJ from 2006 to 2007 and retired to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ in 2007 until her death. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Sisters of Charity Development Fund, P.O. Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961-0476 would be greatly appreciated.
