Sister Rosalie Curran, 88, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ.
Sister Rosalie was born in Millburn, NJ, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Kennedy) Curran. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 25, 1945 and was a member for 70 years.
Sister Rosalie graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN with an M.S. degree in Biology. She also graduated from Columbia University, New York City, NY with an Ed.M. degree in Family Life/Community Relations and an Ed.D. degree in Health Education. Sister Rosalie served in the education and health ministry in the states of New Jersey and Florida. In New Jersey, she taught at St. John School, Orange; St. Bridget School, Newark; Our Lady of Visitation School, Paramus; Bayley-Ellard High School, Madison; the Academy of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station; DePaul Catholic High School, Wayne; Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison; Montclair State University, Montclair; and the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station. In Florida, she taught at Our Lady of Fatima School, Cantonment and at St. Joseph High School, Pensacola. She moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2010 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sister, Elizabeth (Betty) and her husband Frank Walker, Berkeley Heights, NJ; nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews; and cherished friend, Sister Irma Kessler, SC. Sister Rosalie was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Thomas Curran, Jr.
