Sister Joseph Miriam Anderson, 94, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ. Sister Joseph Miriam was born in Passaic, New Jersey, the daughter of Thomas and Marie Irene (Aiken) Anderson. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1942 and was a member for 73 years. Sister Joseph Miriam graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. Sister Joseph Miriam was an educator in New Jersey and Florida. She taught in Corpus Christi School, Hasbrouck Heights; St. Rose of Lima School, Short Hills; All Saints School, Jersey City; St. Francis School, Riviera Beach, Florida; St. Nicholas School, Passaic; St. Paul Elementary School, Ramsey; and St. Paul School, Clifton. She retired to Passaic in 2003 and moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2012 where she resided until her death. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity, nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Thomas, Stanley and Robert Anderson and her sister Shirley McCollum.
