Sister Anne Donnelly, 78, formerly Sister Eileen Patrick, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Monday, September 28, 2015 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ.
Sister Anne was born in New York City, NY, the daughter of James and Bridget (Lennon) Donnelly. She entered the Sisters of Charity on March 6, 1956 and was a member for 59 years.
Sister Anne graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.A. degree in English and from Seton Hall University with an M.A degree in Elementary Education. Sister Anne served as an educator in New Jersey. She taught in St. Andrew School, Westwood and Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Tenafly. She was a teacher and principal in St. Brendan School, Clifton from 1971-1995. Sister Anne became a tutor in the Youth Residence Program in St. Clare Hospital, Dover, and in St. Clare Hospital, Boonton Twp. She was a tutor in School 18, Paterson and Sacred Heart School, Clifton. She retired to Fairlawn in 2006 and moved to the Convent of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station in 2008. She has retired in Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2011 where she resided until her death..
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sisters Eileen (Frank) Wheatley, Elizabeth Donnelly, Bridget (Hank) Hogan, her brothers James (Eileen) Donnelly, Kevin (Maureen) Donnelly and Patrick (Brenda) Donnelly; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and dear friend Rev. Richard Rento. She was predeceased by her parents and her twin sister, Sister James Bridget Donnelly, SC.
