Obituary of JERZY JERRY SKOMIAL

Please share a memory of JERZY to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jerzy "Jerry" Skomial passed away on January 2, 2016 while surrounded by his family at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark. He was 58. Jerzy was born in Poland in 1957 and moved to America in 1978. Jerzy built a wonderful life with his wife of 36 years, Mary (Kurdyla), and their four children: Thomas and his wife, Brittany, and their son, Roman; Christopher, and his wife, Jennifer, and their daughters Bradyn and Kendall; Gregory Skomial; and Suzanna Skomial. He is also survived by his mother, Helena, and brothers Jozef and Wieslaw, all who reside in Poland. He was preceded in death by his father, Roman. Jerzy leaves behind many extended family members with whom he was very close. He is a devout Christian who instilled his love for the Lord in his children. He also enjoyed sharing his Polish heritage. Jerzy was an avid soccer player and fan. He was blessed to have two additional years with his family following a heart transplant in November 2013. In lieu of flowers, Jerzy would request donations to the cardiac services unit in his memory at Beth Israel Hospital, where he received top care during and after his transplant. His wishes would also be for others to become organ donors by indicating so on their driver's licenses.
