Obituary of SISTER GRACE DOROTHY EVERETT

Sister Grace Dorothy Everett, 93, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ. Sister Grace Dorothy was born in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of John and Helen (Prongay) Everett. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1940 and was a member for 75 years. Sister Grace Dorothy graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in Education/English. Sister Grace Dorothy served in the education ministry in the State of New Jersey. She served as a teacher at St. Paul School, Clifton; St. Mary Elementary School, Dumont; DePaul Catholic High School, Wayne; Mother Seton Regional High School, Clark; Immaculate Conception High School, Montclair; St. Vincent Academy, Newark; East Orange Catholic High School, East Orange; and St. Aloysius High School, Jersey City. She was Director of the Student Learning Center at Hudson Catholic Regional High School, Jersey City. She was a volunteer at Caritas Community, Jersey City. Sister Grace resided at the following convents in Jersey City, NJ: Academy of St. Aloysius Convent, St. Paul of the Cross and Assumption/All Saints. In 2009, she retired to St. Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ where she resided until her death. She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Rod, and Adrian; her sisters, Grace Scherr and Sister Helen Jean Everett, SC. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Everett and Shirley Everett, and many nieces, nephews, grand and great-grandnieces and nephews.
