Sister Marie King, 93, formerly Sister Regina Immaculata, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ.
Sister Marie was born in Newark NJ, the daughter of William and Lillian (Pistor) King. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 7, 1940 and was a member for 75 years. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Elizabeth vonStetten and Betty Ann (Beata) Nolze; and brothers, Edward, William, Carl and James King.
Sister Marie graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in Education; from Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart, Purchase, NY with a B.S. degree in Music Education and from Montclair State College, Montclair NJ with an M.A. degree in Music Education. Sister Marie was an educator in New Jersey. She served as a teacher at St. Joseph School, Paterson; St. Teresa School, Summit; St. Matthew School, Ridgefield; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School, Ridgewood; Holy Rosary School, Elizabeth; St. Peter School, Jersey City; St. Paul of the Cross School, Jersey City; St. Stephen School, Arlington; Immaculate Conception School, Elizabeth; and Sacred Heart School, Vailsburg. She was a teacher and an organist in St. Mary Elementary School, Nutley. She served as organist in Holy Family Parish, Nutley; and in Immaculate Conception Church, Newark. She retired to St. Peter Convent, Belleville then to Mother Seton Convent, Clark. She moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2009 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sister Dolores Fitzsimmons, her brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Patricia King, her sister-in-law Viola King, nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephew.
