Alfred J. Gallagher, 93, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his home in Montville, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Jersey City, he had lived in Pines Lake (Wayne) before coming to Montville 54 years ago.
Mr. Gallagher was a US Marine Corps Veteran of World War II, serving as a Combat Conditioner Instructor.
He later earned his Bachelors Degree in Business from Seton Hall University in 1949.
Mr. Gallagher worked as a public servant with the State of New Jersey Department of Labor for 25 years, retiring in 1991. Previously, he was a salesman with American Viscose Corporation of Rochester, NY.
Preceded in death by his three siblings, Francis Gallagher, Mary McCabe and Adele Kuntz; Alfred is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jacqueline Gallagher (nee Molteni); five children, Nancy Otskey (Bill) of Montville, John Gallagher (Michelle) of Green Township, Patricia Vanarelli (Anthony) of Montville, Thomas Gallagher (Tina) of Metuchen, and Mark Gallagher of Montville; and eight grandchildren.
