Obituary of SISTER DOROTHY MASTRIAN

Sister Dorothy Mastrian, 87, formerly Sister Mary Patrice, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station, NJ. Sister Dorothy was born in Plainfield, NJ, the daughter of James and Catherine (Martone) Mastrian. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1947 and was a member for 68 years. Sister Dorothy graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education, and from Iona College, New Rochelle, NY with a M.S. degree in Marriage & Family Counseling. Sister Dorothy served in the education and health ministries in New Jersey. She served as a teacher at St. Joseph School, Oradell; St. Catharine School, Glen Rock; Our Lady of the Visitation, Paramus; Our Lady of Good Counsel School, Washington Township; and St. Andrew School, Westwood. She served as Counselor and Program Coordinator at Catholic Family & Community Service, Paterson, Wayne General Hospital Center, Paterson, Project L.I.N.C., Pompton Lakes; Senior Care & Activities Center, Montclair and Lifespan Counseling, North Haledon. Sister Dorothy moved to Saint Anne Villa, Convent Station in 2011 where she resided until her death. She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her brother James Mastrian, her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Ted Siefert, a niece, nephews and a grandniece and a grandnephew.
