Nick and I met in the 70s when he was in high school and I was in 8th grade.
I remember him introduced to me at my home with a couple friends. At one point he suggested I sit down to take a load of my mind; I retorted that he stand up to take a load off his.
Thence forward we were inseparable friends. Nearly daily we explored the social and other interesting parts of our neighborhood and near beyond. We talked about anything & everything; life, love, the past, the future. Between times he seemed to live quite the risky adventure, regaling me with his exploits when we were together.
We spent many an afterschool afternoon and summertime weekday together gallivanting about, and oh so many Friday and other nights strolling the abandoned cow pasture, and jumping the fence to watch whatever was featured at the drive-in theatre.
In the end, after what to a teen seemed an eternity, he finally won me over and ultimately became my first love.
Sorry not to have found you before you were gone, Nick. I did look on social media, google, etc., but you were nowhere to be found. Too bad, since I'd have relished running into and catching up with you, assuming you'd have been lucid enough to interact.
Peace to you and your family, and goodbye, Nick.
