SISTER ANNE CLAYTOR
Sister Anne Claytor, 90, formerly Sister Constance Mary, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died August 2, 2016 at the Convent of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ.
Sister Anne was born in Shelby, Ohio, the daughter of Lester and Constance (Esser) Claytor. She entered the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1944 and was a member for 71 years.
Sister Anne graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ with a B.S. in Elementary Education; from Seton Hall University, South Orange with an M.A. in Elementary Education and from Rutgers University, New Brunswick with an ED.D degree in Curriculum Theory & Development. Sister Anne was an educator in New Jersey and Florida. She taught at St. Brendan School, Clifton; Sacred Heart School, New Brunswick; St. Mary School, Elizabeth; Holy Cross School, Harrison and the College of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station. She was Principal at Our Lady of Sorrows School, South Orange and at St. Mary School, Deal. Sister Anne was coordinator of Early Childhood Elementary Education in the Archdiocese of Miami, Miami, Florida. She was Assistant Superintendent in the Diocese of Paterson, and was a lecturer at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck. She also taught at St. Francis School, Ridgefield Park. Sister Anne retired to the Convent of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, NJ in 2010 where she resided until her death.
She is survived by the Sisters of Charity; her sisters-in-law, Rose and Dolores Claytor; her nephews, John Claytor, Martin Claytor, David Reynolds; her nieces, Janice Owens, Pamela Rajpal, Deborah Giardina, Dolores Pizzolato, Kathy Frazina, Mary Bigelow, Linda Phillips and Joan Marie Hutzley.
